We haven't had Indian in awhile, so we searched for something close by SW Las Vegas.

When I tell you that this place is a hole-in-the-wall establishment, it's an understatement. It's set behind other businesses in a strip mall, and you will miss it unless you're really searching for it. Locals, you really NEED to search this place out!

At 8 in the evening, we were the only patrons, and we were served as if we owned the place!

    We enjoyed:
    .
Onion Bhaji - sweet yellow onions, spiced lentil batter, and flash fried to a caramelized perfection!
    .
The paratha and garlic naan was light, flavorful, and definitely underpriced!
    .
For the main courses, we enjoyed Chicken Mantra, chicken marinated in mint and yogurt with tomatoes and cashew gravy, and Chicken Korma in cashew and almond curry in a garlic sauce. Served with basmati rice, both were delightfully rich and savory, not overly spicy and, in a word, delicious!

The only thing I can say negative was the fact that it was very hot throughout the entire restaurant. Other than that, the hidden jem known as Mantra Masala has earned its way into our restaurant rotation!

So what gets me about this place is they claim to be "healthy" Indian cuisine, but I can't seem to find on their website or menu what classifies them as healthy?

I do know that the chicken tikka masala sauce my husband had, as well as the vegetable curry that I had, did not have the same abundant flavor palette that I'm accustomed to experiencing with those dishes. Yes, that was my very 'extra' way of saying they were a little bland.

So it's possible that these curries do not have the same amount of fats/oils/salts that most Indian places may lavish their dishes in, but I don't know for sure. I'd recommend that the owners make their "healthy" qualifications a little more obvious to customers who order here.

The food wasn't bad, per se, but I've had better tasting Indian food. If this is, in fact, because it has been prepared in a more healthy manner, I'd probably be willing to look past a few flavor differences. But I am not sure if that's the case, so I think 3 stars is fair.

Our first time here tonight...everything's delish! We especially loved the garlic naan and tikka masala  we look forward to coming back!

Not as bad as the old reviews say. It's worth a try. They are not super busy. We went on a random Wednesday night, a little on the later side and there was several other tables of people And one came after us. Service was excellent, even though it seemed like a one-man show of host/waiter and cook (although I think there was another cook in the back). So had to wait a few extra minutes here and there but he was very nice about it. Food was about average. Like the masala chat appetizer, not many Indian restaurants have Bombay snacks. The chicken tiki Masala did have a sweet flavor, in addition to spicy, like another review said which was odd but I kind of liked it. Chicken was all breads bit it was ok. The basil vegetable dish was different and really tasty. Naan was good and not oily. That was the only thing I noticed as being "more healthy".  One big issue was the raita was sour. Only thing I noticed that wasn't fresh. I pinged it out and said that was surprising because they make their yogurt fresh there but he took it off the bill and I didn't even ask for that or complain that much. As far as the decor, it was pretty nice. Not the fanciest Indian restaurant I've seen but better than average. Not a "hole in the wall" like one review said.

This restaurant was a huge let down. I should have known not to visit empty restaurant but gave them a chance anyway. Food was horrible, Chicken Tandoori was dry, Biryani was bland. I have no idea, how they could mess up that bad. I like to give people a second chance since I know how hard it is to build and run a business. But this one is hard to swallow so I will say you are on your own in this one.
